    Repairs

From cracked grout to leaking showers, we handle all sizes and types of repairs.

What’s behind the tile is what makes it last.

A beautiful finished surface is only as good as the work behind it. From careful preparation and waterproofing through the final tile, our installations follow established TCNA industry standards and manufacturer specifications for lasting results.

Built right from the substrate up Cutaway of a tiled shower wall, from the back to the finished face: wood studs with solid blocking for the niche and grab bars; foam backer board screwed to the studs; Schluter waterproofing membrane with reinforcing fabric over the board seams, the wall to floor corner and the niche; thin-set mortar combed in straight trowel ridges; subway tile in a running bond with a recessed niche; grout and sealer, with water beading on the surface.
  1. Layer 01

    Framing & blocking

A tile wall is only as flat and solid as the wall behind it. Solid backing goes wherever a niche, bench or grab bar will sit.

  2. Layer 02

    Foam backer board

Tile needs a flat, stable, waterproof base. Foam board is light, rigid and won’t rot. Drywall has no place inside a shower.

  3. Layer 03

    Waterproofing

Our showers are built with Schluter Shower Systems: a continuous waterproof membrane, with the seams and corners reinforced.

  4. Layer 04

    Thin-set mortar

The right mortar for the tile, troweled to the manufacturer’s specification, so every tile is fully supported and bonded.

  5. Layer 05

    The tile

Laid out before the first tile is set, so cuts land where they should, patterns line up and niches frame cleanly.

  6. Layer 06

    Grout & sealer

Joints packed full and cleaned up, and porous tile sealed against stains and watermarks. Ask about our resealing reminders.

From start to finish, Burns did an amazing job installing our backsplash. Jessica, Brian and James were the true professionals. In an area where half the battle is just getting someone to show up, they were great communicators, did an amazing job on time and on budget. Admittedly their quote for the job was higher than the other one we got, but that guy also ghosted us. You get what you pay for and Burns is worth it.

Absolutely phenomenal experience working with Brian, Jessica and James. I have to say that this has been the most pleasant, stress-free and professional renovation project we’ve ever done, all thanks to Brian and the team. They have wealth of information and happy to share and recommend ideas/products you wouldn’t otherwise know about. They come on time, do their work on time, keep everything clean and stand behind their work 1000%. I know it’s close to impossible to get anyone half-decent on the cape; I will go as far as say that there probably anyone near Brian’s caliber anywhere in New England. If you need any time work done, do yourself a favor and reach out to them. They’re always busy but they’re worth the wait, trust me. I wish more people in the trades were half as good as they are, not kidding. Cannot thank Brian, Jessica and James enough!

Burns Tile Installation saved the day on a time-sensitive shower repair we needed while we were out of state. Brian's communication and expertise were invaluable, and we couldn't be happier with the final result. Their quality is impeccable and working with Brian and Jessica was a delight, especially given the added complexity of coordinating everything from afar. We're excited to work with them on future projects and can't recommend them highly enough!

From the very beginning, both Brian and Jessica were fantastic to work with. Brian came to the house and was very pleasant and discussed the process with us.

We had Burns Tile do the kitchen backsplash after a full update of the kitchen. Timing was perfect. They came in and did an amazing job. Worked with us on the layout and put up with us when we asked about different options.

They are meticulous in the work they do, as well as ensuring that the area is very well protected.

Cannot say enough good things about them and highly recommend. If they can fit into your timeframe, or you are willing to wait, you will no be disappointed.

Will certainly be calling them in the future.

We had an excellent experience with Burns Tile. We had a serious leak in our shower after a recent renovation, where the tile was installed by a less experienced contractor.

Brian was extremely thorough, from the detailed explanation of his process, to the prep work, installation itself, and the cleanup. The quality of the job compared to the previous work we had done is amazing.

Brian and his team go beyond tile work, and help manage the entire process and give great advice on all of the components that relate to a project. They are very professional, and did a great job keeping the rest of the house clean, and minimizing the impact of the work.

I'd recommend Burns Tile to everyone, and will certainly use them again for future work.

P.s., the new shower does not leak after thorough testing 👍🏼

We had a small job for which I was having difficulty finding reliable help. I contacted Burns Tile Installation, and they scheduled me for an estimate. Brian was prompt, professional and explained clearly how the repair would be performed. He also communicated directly with the glass company to ensure both sides had the correct information. Jessica is extremely responsive and organized with their scheduling, and Brian is a professional who takes pride in his work, no matter the size of the job. I would recommend Burns Tile Installation for any tile job, and I will use them for future projects.

Brian and Jessica were wonderful to work with. I feel really fortunate someone with this level of skill is willing to take smaller jobs like our small shower and floor refurbish. He was willing to work with us so we could do some of the demo and prep work ourselves. Brian’s tile work was meticulous and beautiful. Would recommend to anyone!

Burns Tile was a breath of fresh air! Professional, courteous, communicative, and they did a fantastic job with repairing our falling apart tile shower wall from the 70s for a reasonable price.

As a professional remodeler specializing in kitchen and bath remodeling, I fully recognize and appreciate Brian Burns's talent when it comes to tilework! Brian has an exceptional skill set and a real passion for what he does, and even more important, he is knowledgeable and genuinely cares about what he does. A rare, rare combination in the trades.

Organized. Efficient. Excellent Craftsmanship. Clean. These are just some of the words I use to describe how Brian works and the work he creates.

Also, I appreciated the excellent communication provided by his partner Jessica as she exhibited the same warmth and professionalism as Brian in all of our interactions.
